April 19 - Rainy Ride

Since it was a little cloudy today and it wasn't too hot all of us kids decided to go for a ride. It started out pretty nice, lots of laughs and fun.
Janessa on Shorty.

Kacy on Rusty (Gabe and Kacy switched off)

Zach on Libby and Banner following along.

Garrett and Shea riding our neighbor's horse Pepper.

Garrett and Shea loving the new ride.

We are finally getting some green here, even though the green is in a field that is watered.

Banner ended up with all the speed of his father and his mother together. Libby has a hard time keeping up with him.
Shorty was very much of a gentleman and gave Janessa a wonderful ride.

Rusty as always did excellent.
All Libby and Banner (and Zach) wanted to do was race again.

The whole crew and Banner trying to Photo bomb.

We live in a place where this could be a few minute shower, a small drizzle that lasts for hours, nothing, or a major rain storm that lasts forever. Guess which one it turned out to be?
If you guessed that it was a major rain storm, you would be correct. Thank goodness there was some hay bales from last year out in a field. We all got cover from the storm for quite a while, but we decided that it would probably go on for a while. Kacy and Zach went about half a mile (that would be my guess, we couldn't exactly clock it :) to a farmer that owns a gator that we could use to bring home the wet saddles. Kacy dropped Zach off and went up the house which was a mile away to bring the car down so that we could lead the horses home (one of the horses, Pepper, ended up breaking his bridle, so he was a little hard to ride). We all ended up home safe, sound, and all very wet and tired. After all the horses were put away and the chores done we ate a simple supper and went to bed early.

Mr. Toothless is having quite the adventure.

Thank God that Pepper and Shorty got along really well so we had no horse fights.

And this would be the sun set and the break in the storm, Janessa took this picture while we were still out in the field.
Can you think of anything else that could have happened for this to be more of an adventure?

April 18 - Lady and the Tramps

Because a minor oversight on someone's part (no names will be mentioned) the Spaghetti didn't get put away so it became today's dog food. While they were eating I saw a great picture opportunity. Only the pups weren't quite so ladylike and gentlemanly as Lady and the Tramp were.

April 15 - Puppies, and Other Farm Babies

The friends that came yesterday morning asked mom if we would like to go to the skate park with them. Kacy had to work with the horses and Janessa had to work on B.R.I.G.H.T. Lights so the boys went and their oldest girl came over to mess with the animals with Kacy.
We let the calf out and had fun watching her baby capers.

The new pony is getting broken. Her hardest part so far is the bridle.
We ended up not working with the horses for very long due to equipment problems... we don't have a saddle small enough for the pony. So we went up and played with the puppies until the rest of the family showed up.
Evyn loves being with the puppies... and the affection is mutual.

Reacher on the other hand doesn't have a mutual affection for the pups.

Gotta love warm days.
Too many pups...or is that possible?
Well maybe for Reacher. They have committed the unforgivable crime.... they stole Reacher's ball out of his mouth....

....And ran off with it.

Don't worry Reacher didn't remove any of the pups out of the land of the living. Do you have any animals that need rewarded for extra patients?

April 15 am - Lunar Eclipse

Tonight was a blood-moon lunar eclipse. Even though lunar eclipses are fairly common, the blood-moon eclipse is pretty rare. It was supposed to turn red over Dallas, and it never actually turned red here. Our resident Astronomer, Garrett, was just a little bit excited to see this. At about 2:15 am he was going from room to room telling everyone that it was happening. Garrett and Kacy spent about an hour outside watching it. We actually got a pretty good picture of the moon...for a iPhone camera.
Did anyone else see the Eclipse?

April 13 - Day with Friends

Some very good friends of ours from Oklahoma came over today. They spent all day here, playing, taking, dancing, and just catching up with each other.
Banner was doing a great job entertaining the guests. We had Libby staked out in the yard and Banner was very friendly to everyone. He came up onto the porch where the adults were and nibbled one the chairs and interrupted every conversation. He is a typical baby.

While Banner was entertaining the adults, the kids were inside playing Spoons. (If you have never played the game, I would highly recommend it)

Evyn Won.

Later that evening, another old friend and his family came over to meet all the new babies. They have four little girls that kept our family and animals pleasantly busy. The puppies (as usual) were the hit. I don't know what we are going to do when they are all sold. Our house is going to be pretty boring.

It has become a tradition to get the train set out with these girls. Everyone had a blast.
Do you have any traditions that happen when people come over?
