October 3rd- Photo Shoot

For Kacy's 16th birthday she wanted an old fashion barn dance. And Janessa insisted on the perfect invitation. We had been trying to get some good pictures, but, according to Janessa, the light wasn't right. When the light fit all of Janessa's requirements we did a photo shoot.
First some in the tree....
Then some in the tree with the horse, but as you can see the light reflects on her eye.....

A  few on the neighbor's fence

Can you see Zach holding the horse?
Zach and Kacy, best friends....

A few with Kacy's dog Quincy

This is the on we decided on for the invitation

 Girl Fun

We babysat a little girl, Josie and her sister, Cami. Gabe, Andy, Josie are very good friends. Everyone loves when they come over.

A very dear friend and his 4 daughters came over for a few hours and all the girls rode Rusty constantly.

October 20- Our First Dance to Host

As mentioned earlier we have been planning to host a dance for Kacy's sixteenth birthday. We finally pulled it off with a lot of help from our friends and family. Thank you to the VFW club for letting us use your building for the dance. Thank you Shannon Family for all your help getting dances and music organized, helping teach dances, for MUCH encouragement, giving us the love for dancing, and stepping into the leadership roles all throughout the dance. Thank you to all the people that have learned the dances well enough to help teach, even without being asked. Thank you to all the young men that took the initiative and courage to ask the girls to dance. Even the ones that had no idea what to do. Thank you Thompson Family for helping us with the musical glitches. Thank you Decker and Wilson Family for all the beautiful decorations. Thank you Carroll family for all the "little" things you did to help. Thank you Leamon Family, Dixon Family, Water Family, and Shannon Family for being our photographers.  And most importantly thank you to my wonderful family for making this happen.

Before the dancing started everyone just kind of congregated at one end of the room and talked.

The deacon of  our church and his lovely wife, who provided most of the decorations.

Grand march is like a huge follow the leader game. It was our ice breaker dance. Thank you Cim for stepping up to the plate and leading that.

Next was the Carolina Promenade. We taught quite a few people this dance before hand, but it was amazing how many people had no idea how to do it. Although later one of our friends said "I didn't know how much fun you could have while embarrassing yourself."

Virginia reel is a very upbeat dance and always a lot of fun.

After a few dances everyone went outside and was greeted with this beautiful sunset.

One of the more complicated dances is the Posties Jig. I think we bit off more than we could chew with that one, but we got through it and all the people I could see were smiling....most of the time. :)

I think the Broom Dance was he biggest hit of all though people kept asking to do it. It's kind-of like musical chairs. All the boys but one pick a partner and waltz with her. The one that is left out starts with a broom.   When the music stops they switch partners. The last one ends up with the broom.

Janessa made a beautiful pumpkin cake for the dance.
