November 28 - Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!! This morning when Zach and Kacy went out to do the chores our turkey greeted us with a very unusual greeting. (Sorry about the shadow)

We did have a problem though, Rust, our horse of six years. The horse that has taught every one of us kids, and countless others, to ride. Had a bad case of colic. So we had him up by the house all day to watch him. Gabriel absolutely loved having him close.

Remember all that candy from yesterday's post? Didn't mom do a great job?

Today everyone pitched in the kitchen today. The girls did alot of cooking, and like yesterday the boys were a big help.

Gabe put it upon himself to guard the food from any two legged snitches.

When Kacy went out to check on Rusty and give him some more vitamins, she realized that we got a new dog in our front lawn. And yes, he spent most of the day sleeping in the sun, located in Mom's flower bed. Thank goodness the boys haven't finished it so he did no harm.

B.R.I.G.H.T. Lights was two days ago. So while Janessa, mom, and Zach were gone, Kacy and the younger boys put together a treasure hunt for the rest of the family. We all have been learning sign language for about a month, so they set up the treasure hunt with that included. Gabe cut out some hands out of colored paper. Then they shaped the hands to spell Covenant. They also made beautiful snowflakes out of colored paper and laminated them to make some place mats. They then put a snowflake and a "hand" with each clue. The "treasure" was a homemade gift certificate to a local ice cream shop.

By the time we were ready to eat,we were really appreciating the idea of a feast. I'm sure that this is a tradition for many families, after the meal we always tell what things we are thankful for in the past year. Some of the things we are thankful for are: Our family, our home, God's provision, God's wonderful plan, the bible seminar that we are going to do with mom's family soon, B.R.I.G.H.T. Lights, getting to do Black-eyed-peas, and most of all that God chose us to be here at this time.

The whole family went to take rusty for a walk. Well actually Mom and Dad spent time together while the kids played around the other horses. Our mare, Libby, is pregnant and is due in March. The kids got to feel the baby moving around and were so excited. Unfortunately Rusty wasn't felling any better.

By the time evening rolled around, Rusty seemed to be getting worse. So we made him a castor oil wrap and put some rice packs on him to try to get things moving through.

We played a game of monopoly with the whole family.

After we decided that the best thing to do for Rusty was to put him down, Rusty was almost completely better in the morning. Many things to be thankful for.
